Two Good Options
Nov 23, 2025 • By Matthew O'Donnell
When choosing between two options, it’s handy to assess if either of them is actually bad. “Bad” options meaning ones that make your life worse.
That definition seems straightforward, but if you live a middle-class life like me, you’ll realise most of your decisions are in fact between two or more good options - ones that make your life better, no matter which you pick.
What city shall I live in? How shall I spend my free time? Where shall I go to eat tonight? There are bad answers for all these, but if you’re privileged like me, they’re easy to avoid.
Don’t stress about choosing between two good options. Just pick one and enjoy it.
If you have energy to spend, use it to avoid bad outcomes, for yourself or for others.
